About

Description
Traversing the realm of noirish cinematic pop, Sankt Otten draw inspiration from such musical inventors as - Morricone, John Barry, Talk Talk - and the modern adaptors - Bohren und der Club of Gore and David Holmes. The band began life in Germany, 1999 and over the ensuing period released two albums on the German electronic label Eleganz Records.

After their brilliant and wonderfully received debut on Eleganz - the 12” vinyl “Stille Tage im Klischee” (Quiet Days in the Cliché - playing with the title of Henry Miller’s studies on bored hedonism), the band followed up with the equally impressive “Eine kleine Traurigkeit” (A Small Sadness). In 2006 the band released the album Wir koennen ja Freunde bleiben through Hidden Shoal Recordings collecting the pearls of their work from the years 2000 to 2005.

December 11th 2008 will see the release of Sankt Ottens 2nd full length release through Hidden Shoal Recordings, "Wunden gibt es immer wieder".

Hidden Shoal Recordings have announced the release of the eagerly anticipated new album Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder by German cinematic pop outfit, Sankt Otten.

From the opening track of Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder Sankt Otten make their intentions known. Stephan Otten`s echoing rhodes piano falls over golden drones as Oliver Klemm drapes his elegant trademark guitar through the track like a neon waterfall. The album represents a marked progression from the bands earlier output. It draws upon the heart of their previous forays into dark melancholic trip hop yet discards the form. In doing so the band have managed to present a musical vision that is even more epic, cinematic, noirish and distinctly their own. - Press Release Excerpt

Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder is available now through all good digital music stores including iTunes, eMusic, Amazon as well as the labels own store. For all store links and to preview the album in full hear over to the HSR Store.

Hidden Shoal Recordings, today announced the release of the first single and music video from the eagerly anticipated forthcoming new album by German cinematic pop outfit, Sankt Otten.

‘Wunden gibt es immer wieder’ is a magisterial lament, an anthem for lost moments. The track kicks into life with an insistent, hypnotic beat whose empty moments are soon filled with curling strings and the heart breakingly beautiful Fripp’esque guitar work of Oliver Klemm. ‘Wunden gibt es immer wieder’ is a slow burning, instensely orchestrated piece of maximalist minimalism…this is chamber trance. - Press Release Excerpt

Wunden gibt es immer wieder’ is now available exclusively from the HSR Store and includes a bonus unreleased track in the form of ‘Wandertag’. The music video is also available for purchase from the HSR Store in high quality iPod-ready format as well as being viewable on Imeem and HSR TV.
